The Ozh Admin Drop Down Menu is the first plugin I install and activate on my blogs. It is a bit of a personal preference but I prefer the admin menu at the top with nice drop downs.

This plugin offers you a chance to shape the top of the admin menu in quite a few ways. I tend to install it and ignore the options but they are worth a look.

Wordpress Automatic Upgrade adds a bit more robustness to the process of automatically upgrading. The standard upgrade reminds you to do a backup but doesn’t do one. This plugin takes you step by step through the process in a much more reassuring way.

This is an essential plugin for any installation I do.
